Word/Expression | Explanation |

undercut | When an indentation or protrusion in the pulling direction prevents the casting from being removed when pulling mold surfaces apart. |
underfill | Also called a chip in die casting, etc., it refers to when mechanical stress applied to a die-cast product causes it to fracture and go missing. It may occur during the casting process (splitting gates, etc.) or during post-cast processing (deburring and the like). |
universal testing machine | A device for testing the stretch, compression, bending, etc., of a material like a metal. |
upper mold | A mold attached to the upper plate in casting machines and shell core making machines that open and close vertically. |
