Approach to Quality

Yamaha engages in quality improvement activities aimed at bringing peace of mind, trust, and kando to customers.
The Yamaha Motor Company Group Basic Quality Policy constitutes the cornerstone of those activities.

Basic Quality Policy

In accordance with the spirit of the Yamaha Brand Charter, our Basic Quality Policy is to, on the basis of respect for the diversity of human sensitivity, a customer-oriented approach, and full compliance with laws and regulations, constantly deliver peace of mind, reliability, and kando to our customers, and strive to realize the highest level of quality to efficiently deliver high-quality products and services, and ensuring safety and reliability through creation at the finest level.

Our YQ2027 company-wide medium-term quality policy (for 2025 to 2027) has been established based on that basic policy. Through their respective roles, all employees are committed to ensuring the quality of the products and services provided to customers, as well as of the information disseminated to the public.

In this era of intensifying social scrutiny regarding corporate compliance, Yamaha engaged in inappropriate practices with respect to testing and certification applications for motorcycle products.Drawing on the insights gained from reflecting on that mistake, the YQ2027 policy sets the goal of taking the initiative in promoting actions that lead to outputs to offer both customers and society better mono and koto on an ongoing basis.We are pursuing various initiatives to reduce difficulties or inconvenience faced by our customers and gain recognition for Yamaha Quality in both name and reality.
To achieve Yamaha Quality, we have defined the four desired states of customer-oriented approach, quality-minded personnel, suitable QMS, and transparency in the realms of mono and koto as we enhance the transparency of our compliance measures.

Fostering an Awareness and Culture of Quality

We conducted a survey to assess the awareness of employees concerning the desired states of customer-oriented approach, quality-minded personnel, suitable QMS, and transparency advocated in the YQ2027 policy, and are applying the results to company-wide quality enhancement initiatives.
At the same time, we are regularly disseminating information via the internal information sharing site and in-house newsletter to fully impart the approach to quality to our employees.
