Public Announcement by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism regarding Testing and Certification Applications

July 1, 2024

IWATA, July 1, 2024 - Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) sincerely apologizes to our customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders for damaging their trust in the Company due to our recent inappropriate handling of motorcycle testing and certification applications.

On June 28, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced its directives regarding this incident, confirmed our compliance with standards, and ordered the lifting of its suspension of shipments of a Yamaha Motor vehicle currently in production. The ministry's directives instructed Yamaha Motor to implement the preventive measures we formulated based on the results of their on-site inspection and to report on the status of those measures every six months for the time being.

The ministry also confirmed that the three models that were subject to inspection (YZF-R1, YZF-R3, TMAX) are in compliance with standards, and accordingly, Yamaha Motor will promptly resume shipments of the model currently in production (YZF-R1) from today onward as soon as preparations are complete.

We take the ministry's directives very seriously and will strive to prevent a recurrence of such incidents in the future.
