Aluminum alloy castings

Preface

The chart below is from the Japanese Industrial Standards for aluminum alloys for casting, and is based on the information contained in ISO 3522: Aluminium and aluminium alloys-Castings-Chemical composition and mechanical properties (4th revision) published in 2007. When making adjustments to align it with other international standards and the JIS H 5202 standard that has been in place for some time, no changes were made to the technical content of the parts/materials it pertains to. This standard applies to all aluminum alloys for casting standardized in JIS H 5202 and all types of aluminum alloys for casting standardized in ISO 3522 with the exception of materials for die casting. The material codes listed distinguish between the two.

Notes: Elements used for modification or refinement processes include Na, Sr, Sb, and P.

(1)a) Chemical components other than those given in the above table, including those shown in the table with “—” i.e., no specification values, shall be 0.05% max. for individual elements and 0.15% in total. However, this does not apply for elements used for modification or refinement processes.
