BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Debuts in The 2025 Moto2 World Championship
Yamaha press releases on our motor sports racing activities
February 3, 2025
February 3, 2025—A new challenge for Pramac Racing began today in Kuala Lumpur against the breathtaking backdrop of the illuminated Twin Towers. Following a spectacular 2024 season that saw Prima Pramac Racing clinch the MotoGP Riders World Championship with Jorge Martin—the first independent team to achieve this feat since 2001—the team is now ready to embark on an exciting new chapter. As part of their multi-year partnership with Yamaha, which designates Pramac Racing as second Factory Yamaha team in MotoGP, the team led by Paolo Campinoti will also expand into the intermediate Moto2 class in collaboration with the Japanese manufacturer.
The debut season of the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team will feature Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara as its riders. Under the expert leadership of Gino Borsoi, who will serve as Team Director for the Moto2 team while continuing as Team Manager for the MotoGP squad, the new structure promises a wealth of experience and ambition.
Joining the project is Alex De Angelis, who returns to the World Championship as Team Manager of the newly formed Moto2 team. Arbolino and Guevara will compete aboard Boscoscuro motorcycles, with the Italian manufacturer playing a key role in the venture. This collaboration between Pramac Racing, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., and Boscoscuro aims to nurture young talent and guide them toward success in MotoGP.
A further testament to the strong and effective collaboration between Yamaha and Pramac Racing in this new Moto2 venture is the presence of BLU CRU as the title sponsor of the newly formed team. Yamaha’s award-winning BLU CRU program forms the foundation of the Yamaha Racing pyramid, designed to nurture the next generation of young talent in both on-road and off-road disciplines, with the premier classes (MotoGP, WorldSBK, and MXGP) as the ultimate destination.
Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara will have the honor of being the first flagbearers and ambassadors of BLU CRU in Moto2, as well as the responsibility of serving as role models for hundreds of young Yamaha riders around the world.
Paolo Campinoti - Team Principal, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2
"I am very excited about the start of this new adventure, which will see Pramac Racing not only join Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. for a multi-year partnership as second Factory Team in MotoGP but also make our debut in the Moto2™ class with the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team. From the moment that the possibility of creating a team in the intermediate category became concrete, I have been very supportive of carrying out this operation, which is aimed at developing young talent – helping them on their way to MotoGP – and will also strengthen our relationship with Yamaha.
With Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara we will have two of the most talented riders on the grid, and I am delighted to welcome back Alex De Angelis who, after racing with our team in MotoE, will take on the role of Team Manager with Gino Borsoi as Team Director. The great experience of Alex, the speed and talent of Tony and Izan, and the agreement reached with the company of Luca Boscoscuro, which will supply us with the bike that won the Moto2 Riders World Championship in 2024, make me believe that, although this is our debut season, we will soon be fighting for the top positions.”
Paolo Pavesio - Managing Director, Yamaha Motor Racing
"The new BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 teamis a corporate project of great importance, because not only does the newborn Moto2 team allow Yamaha to strengthen its presence in the MotoGP paddock, but this new project also allows us to officially incorporate the BLU CRU concept into Yamaha's MotoGP operations and introducing it to the MotoGP paddock.
“The BLU CRU program forms the foundation of Yamaha’s racing pyramid, which is designed to offer an affordable access to racing to the next generation of young riding talent in both road and off-road racing, with the premier classes in MotoGP, WorldSBK, and MXGP as its destination. This way, we 'come full circle' in the step-up strategy for hundreds of Yamaha riders from south America to Asia and of course Europe, who now know they can aspire to the intermediate class of the MotoGP World Championship based on their talent and racing results in in a wider number of championships around the world.
“With the launch of this new project, we also took the opportunity to redesign the BLU CRU logo, which is shown as Title Sponsor on the bike, with the target to inspire many your riders and further increase the awareness of the program.
“I would like thank Paolo and Gino for the support they have given to kick-off the project, while we were also busy with the MotoGP Team transition, and of course I want to wish Alex and our Official Riders Tony and Izan every success in this new chapter of our exciting journey together.”
Gino Borsoi - Team Director, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2
"I've known Alex De Angelis for many years, I was his teammate and also team manager in 2003, a very special season in which he fought to the end for the 125cc Riders World Championship, and I'm confident that he will bring his extensive experience to help our riders and support the growth of our new structure. We've built a long-term project with Yamaha, supported by the technical expertise of Boscoscuro - a manufacturer that has consistently proven its competitiveness with nine race wins and the Moto2 Riders World Championship last season. With the combined strength of Boscoscuro and Yamaha, we are all highly motivated to begin this new chapter.”
Alex De Angelis - Team Manager, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2
"Gino Borsoi's call was a godsend, because in the five years that I have been building my little team, I have realized that being a team manager is exactly the job I love to do, a job where you never look at the time, whether it is Saturday or Sunday, a job where you only close the computer when you have finished what you have to do. Doing something you love is the best thing that can happen in your life. And to do it with Pramac Racing, the team where I finished my career in MotoE, to find myself working again for Paolo Campinoti, who has always had an eye on me, is something special. And it's even nicer to see Gino again: he was my teammate but also my team manager in the 125cc class in 2003, the year in which I was runner-up to the World Championship, my best season in terms of results in 20 years of MotoGP. So, on a human level I couldn't have hoped for anything better.
"The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team is new, but it is starting with very ambitious goals to fight for the top positions as soon as possible. Tony and Izan are two young but experienced and very, very fast riders. We have a very competitive bike like the Boscoscuro that won the Riders World Championship in 2024, the fundamental support of Yamaha and technicians and mechanics with many years of experience. Youth and experience can be a perfect combination. It's going to be an important year for me, I can't afford to say that I've just arrived in this world, and I have to learn, because I have so many years behind me as a rider and the last few as a team manager, even if not in the World Championship.
"Now we all must turn our experience into results. There is no lack of will and determination and I am sure that the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team will fight for important goals from the very beginning.”
Tony Arbolino - BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Rider
"Accepting this challenge with BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 has taken me out of my comfort zone. In my old team I was the undisputed leader, I was comfortable, and everyone loved me. I could have easily stayed there, but I felt that something was missing and when my manager, Albert Valera, told me about this opportunity, I immediately felt that it was the right thing to do, that joining BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 as a Yamaha Factory rider was what I needed to grow.
"Knowing that Paolo Campinoti and Yamaha really wanted me is something special. Paolo is a very genuine person and a very funny one, just like me. Our relationship was born and is growing in a very natural way, and that makes everything even better. I have a lot of respect for Gino Borsoi, we've always had a great relationship and his history as a team manager, first in Moto2 and Moto3 and now in MotoGP, speaks for itself. And then to have someone like Alex De Angelis as a team manager is an extra guarantee. I knew him very little, but from the first moment we started talking it was a very good feeling. What I liked about Alex was that I immediately perceived him as a sincere person, able to speak clearly. As a former rider, he also knows what we need, not only on a technical level, but also on a psychological level.
"Finally, riding a Boscoscuro bike is extra motivation. Luca Boscoscuro has been courting me for a long time, and with the progress I have made in the last few years, I really wanted to ride his bike. I liked it right away, it's a bike that the faster you ride, the easier it gets. It is true that we are a new team, but I feel that we are going to do very well in a year that will be crucial for my future."
Izan Guevara - BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Rider
“I am delighted to join a new project that sees Pramac Racing and Yamaha working together in an exciting and challenging venture. I also feel privileged to do so as a Yamaha Factory rider. I consider it a privilege to be reunited with people I have worked with in the past, with whom I have achieved important successes, and with great professionals who will undoubtedly support my adaptation to this new chapter. I am motivated and happy to work again with Gino Borsoi, a person who played a key role in supporting my path to becoming World Champion in 2022.
"It will also be a pleasure to work with Alex De Angelis, who was a very fast rider and will now be my team manager; his perspective and support will be fundamental for this season. I have already had a day of testing in Jerez and felt a great connection with Alex and the rest of the team. This is a new project, and I could sense the enthusiasm to do well and give our best to achieve maximum results from the first lap. I’m eager to face the first GP of the season in Thailand. The goals are clear to everyone, and we are going to give everything to achieve them. It’s a year to be ambitious and go for the win.”
Luca Boscoscuro - CEO, Boscoscuro
“It's a pleasure for me to start this adventure with the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team. Their debut in Moto2 marks the start of a project in which I strongly believe. It's a challenge we will face together, and I'm convinced that by joining forces we will be able to achieve important goals. I have full confidence in the riders who will be riding the Boscoscuro bikes: Guevara and Arbolino are two talents that I've always wanted to have at my side, and I'm sure that their contribution will be decisive to the team's success. I wish the whole team a great start to the season.”
