Here is the second in our series of Yamaha-style EVs
with a plug-in hybrid system
designed for use in our large motorcycles.
PHEV*system
The PHEV system is designed with a compact layout, keeping a size similar to conventional motorcycles even with the motor and battery added to the engine, and preserving drivability. This is a motorcycle that combines the good points of an engine with the add-on value of electric. To fit the riding environment, the system automatically switches between motor and gas engine drive, and it also offers hybrid mode with motor assist.

Auto-switching mode
In the auto-switching mode, once stopped it switches to the motor-driven EV mode.

When it reaches a certain speed as an EV, the engine kicks in and it switches to hybrid mode.
This switch is natural and seamless. But the sound when switching between motor and engine offers a spirit-raising joy, enhancing the experience by responding to the rider’s mindset.
