The 4th “The Cultural Geography of Coloring – North America, Europe Version”
Exhibition Period: From August 2024 to January 2025
This series of special exhibitions looks back over the history of Yamaha Motor design for the purpose of introducing the Design Logic that has been handed down until now. For the 4th exhibition of this series, the subject is “The Cultural Geography of Coloring – North America, Europe Version,” and it examines the use of Yamaha Motor CMFG (Color, Material, Finish, Graphics) for models like the RAIDER and the MT-01 destined for the North American and European markets.
Ever since its corporate founding, it has been an objective of Yamaha Motor to conduct business on the world markets.
This has not only been for the purpose of technological advancement but also for the added value design brings to products, and the importance placed on this objective has only grown stronger over the years.
Especially in North America and Europe, where motor vehicle culture has already been established, these regions have market environments where it has long been difficult to win acceptance for products whose styling is based merely on the copying of superficial exterior design elements. Therefore, in order to create more convincing designs, the designers of Yamaha products felt the need to get first-hand experience of markets in regions with different climates, natural environments and cultural backgrounds in order to analyze their value and reflect them in CMFG(Color, Material, Finish, Graphics).
This exhibition has thus been assembled to present different aspects of North American and European cultural geography from a variety of different perspectives.
