This 4-stroke, single-cylinder off-road sport model for overseas markets built on the XT500 heritage. After its 1983 debut, it continued to evolve while retaining the torquey, easy-to-use engine and slim, lightweight chassis. It served in a wide range of uses, from enduro racing, cross-country and trail (unpaved) riding to long-distance touring and around-town use. On sale for two decades, it was a long seller in Europe and other regions. The model on display was the final generation with a 13 L fuel tank and kickstarter (released in 1994).
