(1989 / Production Model)
The long-awaited TZR250 “racer replica” had caused a stir and been met with rave reviews upon its introduction in 1985, and this second-generation model pursued the utmost limits of the original concept. It adopted an uncommon engine layout with rear-facing exhaust ports, and overthrew the prevailing notion many enthusiasts at the time had of such a format never coming to a production bike. As other manufacturers were shifting towards V-twins, this model sought the yet-untapped potential of a sports model with a more traditional in-line 2-cylinder engine, and numerous technologies in their most refined form to date were employed on this model.
