The frame was completely re-configured to fit the vertical-twin cylinder engine style of the XS-1, the wheelbase was also lengthened to contribute to increased straight-line running stability, and the trail spec was also lengthened. It also featured lighter-weight pistons and connecting rods, “H” shaped aluminum rims, a shield beam headlight and more. Like the previously released TX750 and TX500, this was a model that filled out the big sports “TX Series.” Until the last model released in 1980 with transistor ignition, it remained a popular long-selling model.
