Ever since its debut in March of 1978, the SR400 won the hearts of many users thanks to its simple and unchanging original SR styling and the great feeling of throb from its kick-started air-cooled engine. On the domestic market it was launched in a final Limited Edition in 2021.

Its coloring was limited to the black loved by its fans for generations. Special features included the “sunburst” painting technique on the fuel tank hand-applied by skilled technicians, the electroformed emblem with the machine’s serial number, the symbolic Yamaha tuning fork mark, the genuine leather-like seat cover and the black digits on the meters. All of this was worthy of the final model of the SR series and representative of Yamaha Monozukuri (product creation).
