Based on the 2018 machine, this YZR-M1 refined the engine and chassis components. Yamaha tested and tried various different aerodynamics packages looking to achieve both good handling and grip. Valentino Rossi took two 2nd place podiums early in the season while Maverick Viñales rode to seven podiums—including two wins—to finish 3rd in the championship.
