(2005 / Racing Machine)
This was Yamaha Motor's first MotoGP factory machine to win the MotoGP “Triple Crown” (Rider, Manufacturer and Team titles). Its new engine had a shortened stroke spec, gear-driven camshafts and a design with fewer parts for reduced horsepower loss. The air duct was redesigned to improve intake efficiency while also contributing to good cooling performance. The frame design was changed to optimize rigidity balance and the mass-centralized chassis design achieved reduced moment of inertia.
- Engine type: Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC 4-valve, in-line 4-cylinder, 990cm³
- Transmission: 6-speed

- Maximum power output: Over 176.5kW (240PS)
