This sport-tourer model achieved a fine balance of both supersport performance and comfortable touring capability through the use of advanced technologies. It featured a newly developed high-rigidity, omega-shaped aluminum frame with a low center of gravity and a unique single-side front suspension that separated steering and suspension functions for outstanding handling stability. Also, it featured Yamaha's exclusive DOHC 20-valve in-line 4-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection and a 3-way catalyzer to provide both outstanding power development characteristics and environmentally friendly performance.
