The FZX250 Zeal’s powerplant was based on the liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine from the popular and racy FZR250, but refined for greater usability on the street. With a seat height on par with a cruiser, the development concept was “People-friendly, rider-friendly” and the engineering team sought to create a bike one could approach and ride like enjoying sports and music. The key words for creating the Zeal’s styling were “curvy,” “muscular,” and “dynamic” and the bike’s looks were inspired by the image of a dolphin flying into the air.
