1987 FZR400R
Collection items
(1987 / Production Model)
The FZR400R was the first model to feature Yamaha’s proprietary EXUP exhaust device for 4-strokes and only 2,500 were manufactured and sold, specifically for use as a base bike for racing. The engine was the same as the FZR400’s but gained lighter pistons, additional clutch friction plates, an F3 race kit-spec close-ratio transmission and more. Additional spec changes were made with an eye on easy entry into All Japan TT-F3 races, like the solo seat and rearsets positioned 40 mm toward the tail.
