1968 DT-1
Collection items
(1968 / Production Model)
At a time when there was no clear distinction between on-road and off-road bikes, the DT-1 succeeded in creating a new category known as “trail bikes.” It boasted technologies and functions expressly for off-road riding like a front fork with the longest stroke of any Japanese model at the time, wide-radius block-pattern tires, an engine guard and more. The DT-1 was explosively popular in the U.S. where off-road sport riding was popular. In Japan, it led to the creation of "Trail Riding Courses" and "Trail Land" riding facilities that opened up a new world of riding enjoyment.
