Born October 1952. Joined the Yamaha team in 1984 and rode a YZR500 alongside Eddie Lawson. His highest achievement in that year was a 4th in the British GP, and his ranking was 10th. Raced for the first time in 1972 in the 50cc class, and subsequently raced in various classes. In 1979, entered the GP500 with the Suzuki Factory Team, and finished 2nd after Kenny Roberts, that year's champion. After moving away from the GP, participated in the TT-F1 World Championship, and in 1987 won the TT-F1 title aboard a Bimota YB4 fitted with a Yamaha engine.
