Born October 1977. In 1998, dominated the All Japan Road Race Championship on a YZR250, and from the following year, rode in the World GP full time. In 1999 and 2000, raced in the GP250 alongside teammate Olivier Jacque. In 2000, he remained at the top of the rankings right up to the final race, where he was narrowly defeated by Jacque, and consequently slipped to the No. 2 slot in the rankings. In the GP250, he chalked up one win in 1999 and five wins in 2000. From 2001, rode a YZR500 in the highest class of the GP. In 2001, a 3rd place in the German GP and other successes pushed his ranking up to 5th. In 2002, he was ranked 11th, and in 2003, ended the year at 10th. From 2004, he rode Kawasaki, and came in 3rd in the Japan GP of that year.
