Born: 1-Dec-59
Born December 1959. Started racing in 1972 and in 1983 after achieving a ranking of 2nd (Suzuki) in the TT-F1 World Championship, followed this up with a Senior Classic TT victory in the Isle of Man TT. Suzuki then gave him the opportunity to enter World GP racing. After that, he received a regular place in the World GP, and in 1986 joined the Yamaha Agostini Team as a team-mate of Eddie Lawson. In the 500cc class, he achieved a ranking of 5th. Two years after joining Yamaha, however, he switched teams. In 1989, he finally ended his career in World GP, but from that year rode in the World Superbike Championship (WSB) with a Yamaha affiliated team. He increased his ranking to 5th in 1990, but retired from racing in 1993 because of injury.
