Born February 1957. In 1985 joined the Yamaha Team and rode the YZR500 alongside Eddie Lawson. In the same year, came 2nd after Freddie Spencer in the French GP and finished the year with a ranking of 7th. Roche began racing in 1975, garnering a 6th place in the French Open Championship on a TZ250. In 1978, rode a TZ250 in the GP250, and took 3rd place in the British GP with a ranking of 11th. From 1980, raced in the 500cc class, riding Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki machines. At the end of 1985 after he parted from Yamaha, rode Honda and Cagiva in the GP500. Then, in 1981, won the Endurance World Championship (Kawasaki) and in 1990, won the World Superbike (WSB) Championship (Ducati).
