Garry McCoy
Australia
Born: 1-Apr-72
Born April 1972. Rode Aprilia machines in the GP125, then suddenly burst into the limelight in the second half of the 1999 season when he landed the opportunity to ride in the Red Bull Yamaha WMC Team from the 7th round of the GP in place of Simon Crafar. On the YZR500, he demonstrated flexibility in each race and placed 3rd in Valencia GP, round 12 of that year. In 2000 he achieved a total of three wins in the opening round in South Africa, in Portugal and in Valencia, resulting in a ranking of 5th. Able to slide the fat rear tire and turn the machine sideways into corners, his riding style was known as the "Garry McCoy Slide" and became a sensation. Up to 2002, he rode in the Yamaha team. In 2003, he participated in the MotoGP with Kawasaki, then turned to the World Superbike Championship.
