Born February 1932. The first non-Japanese rider to ride a Yamaha factory machine. In 1961 rode a 125cc factory machine (RA41) in the Dutch GP and finished 13th. In that race, Yamaha team member Yoshikazu Sunako placed 9th, and team member Fumio Ito was 10th. Van Dongen was the winner of 14 national titles in the Netherlands in classes ranging from 50 cc to 500 cc. He is also known as the finest technician in the history of Dutch motorcycle racing.
