(1999 / Production Model)
This supersport model was the product of Yamaha’s pursuit of a machine with truly exciting riding performance and a character unique to the 600cc class. Its Deltabox II frame was designed for a short wheelbase coupled with a long rear arm for a lightweight, compact chassis. To this was mounted a super-high-revving, high-output engine. It also featured a “forced air intake” system that utilized the running airflow to pressurize the air in the air box to increase intake air volume and achieved light handling performance, well-modulated acceleration and high-speed performance with deep reserves of power.
