The SR500 brought the know-how gained with the XT500 4-stroke enduro bike to a road-going sport model. Its lightweight, slim and compact body; universally appealing simple and timeless styling; and the powerful torque, feeling of acceleration, and pulse “big singles” are known for won it a unique following of fans. The SR400 created to conform with Japan's license laws became a definitive Yamaha long-seller, spending some 40 years on the market.
