This has long been one of Yamaha’s representative single-cylinder road sport models in Japan. Debuting in 1978, elements such as its simple styling, the kick-started, air-cooled, OHC engine, the chrome-plated exhaust pipe, drum brakes front and rear and the abundant use of metallic parts to create a high quality exterior have continued to evolve over the years through meticulous attention to detail, creating a machine with an aura of fine craftsmanship. As a model, it continues to win fans among a wide range of users. The display model is one of 1,000 limited-edition units released in 1992 featuring a special “Miyabi Maroon” color inspired by the YA-1.
