YZR-M1 (0WS9)

This MotoGP factory machine was developed with the aim of enabling greater “rider-machine collaboration” that brought out the fullest potential of the rider and the fullest performance potential of the machine. Measures were taken to increase levels of maturation in the chassis, engine and engine management system. The engine mounting position and rigidity balance were optimized, while changes were also made in the shape of the cowling to improve both aerodynamics and cooling performance. In response to the new regulation limit on number of engines that could be used in a season, efforts were made to improve engine power and durability simultaneously in three stages during the season, and the results helped win Yamaha's third consecutive MotoGP Triple Crown.

  • Engine type: Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC 4-valve, in-line 4-cylinder, 800cm³
  • Transmission: 6-speed
  • Fuel supply: Fuel injection
  • Maximum power output: Over 147.1kW (200PS)
