Based on the 250cc sport model “DS6” that featured a 5-port cylinder, AutoLube (separate lubrication) system, and twin carburetors, this new “DS6-C” was designed as a scrambler-variation model featuring a sporty high-mounted muffler and engine guard. This was a year that Yamaha focused on strengthening its offerings in the “sport,” “trail” and “scrambler” categories, and the DS6-C became the top representative Yamaha scrambler model.
