Alexandre Barros
Brazil
Born: 1-Oct-70
Born October 1970. Joined the Gauloises Yamaha Team and obtained a ranking of 9th on the YZR-M1 in 2003. In 1988, he debuted in the World GP in the 250cc class. From 1990, he stepped up to the GP500 and successively rode Cagiva, Suzuki and Honda until joining the Yamaha team in 2003. That year, he showed very good form in the preliminary tests but suffered a setback when he crashed and was injured in the opening round. Though generally expected to have a long career as a rider with superb talent on both 4-strokes and 2-strokes, he was dogged by injury and entered very few races in perfect form. However, in the 4th round of the GP (France), he showed his ability, managing a 3rd in very trying conditions with rain interrupting the racing. After leaving Yamaha, Barros rode in the MotoGP and WSB.
