Yamaha Confirms Izan Guevara and Welcomes Alberto Ferrández for the 2026 BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team

November 19, 2025—Yamaha is proud to announce the renewal of Izan Guevara's contract and the arrival of rising star Alberto Ferrández for the 2026 BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team. This marks an exciting new chapter for Yamaha's talent development strategy within the BLU CRU project.

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. are delighted to confirm that 2022 Moto3 Champion Izan Guevara's continued presence in the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team and to introduce rookie Alberto Ferrández as his new teammate for 2026. This lineup underlines Yamaha's commitment to developing young talent and strengthening its position in the FIM Moto2 World Championship.

Guevara has shown strong progress since joining the team in 2025, delivering his strongest intermediate-class season yet by securing two podium finishes—including a win at the final round of the season—to finish 11th overall. His steady development underscores Yamaha's long-term vision to support riders as they grow into future MotoGP contenders.

The 18-year-old Alberto Ferrández, one of Spain's most promising young riders, will step up to the Moto2 World Championship after an impressive run in the FIM JuniorGP Moto2 class, where he secured multiple wins and podiums and is still in contention for the title with one race to go. His adaptability and determination make him an exciting addition to the BLU CRU Yamaha Moto2 Team for 2026.

Yamaha's BLU CRU programme is designed to support and develop young and amateur riders by providing them with opportunities, training, and a clear pathway to professional racing within Yamaha's global motorsport structure. It started a decade ago with motocross, then grew into production racing and finally made its debut in prototype racing in 2025 as the pinnacle of the programme, which this year has involved over 1,000 young racers worldwide.

Pramac Racing has built a reputation as one of MotoGP's most successful teams. Their expertise in fostering talent has made them a key player in the premier class. By partnering with Yamaha in 2025 they not only acquired factory status in the MotoGP class but also debuted the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team. This shared project allows Pramac to apply its proven experience in rider development to the intermediate category, ensuring young talents have the best possible platform to grow and succeed.

About Izan Guevara

Izan Guevara began his motorcycling career at the tender age of 3, and since then the Majorcan rider has continued to progress by leaps and bounds. At the age of 16, his star shone brightly in the FIM CEV Repsol championship, where he won the European Talent Cup and the Moto3 Junior World Championship. During his time in the European Talent Cup, he won six races in a row and clinched the title with three races to spare.

In 2020 he stepped up to the Moto3 Junior World Championship and was crowned champion straight away that year. Thanks to this incredible result, the Aspar team signed him up for 2021, and the rookie did not disappoint. After many excellent performances, Guevara finally made it onto the podium at the Americas GP, where he was declared the race winner following a red‑flagged race, en route to finishing the season eighth overall.

In his second season in the lower class, the young Spaniard was considered by many to be an outsider for the 2022 Moto3 crown, but he ended up stunning everyone. He clinched the championship with two rounds to spare with his sixth win of the year in Australia and bade farewell to the lowest MotoGP class with another victory in Valencia, his fourth triumph from four Spanish rounds.

He continued to defend the Aspar GASGAS team colours in 2023 after making the step up to Moto2. In his first season in the intermediate category Guevara didn't make the impact he had hoped for. His best result was a sixth place in Australia. In 2024 he also struggled to secure regular top-10 finishes, but he did manage a podium in Malaysia at the end of the season, finishing third.

2025 became a turning point for Guevara. He joined the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team and delivered his strongest season yet in the intermediate class. He finished second at the Malaysian GP and won the final race at the Valencia GP, steadily improving to earn a total of 134 points and finish 11th overall.

About Alberto Ferrández

Alberto Ferrández is one of Spain’s most promising young talents, hailing from Alicante. The 18-year-old began riding at the age of six after his father introduced him to the world of motorcycles, sharing a passion that quickly turned into a career. From minibikes to international championships, Ferrández has shown remarkable determination and skill, achieving podiums and victories across multiple categories.

Ferrández credits his father as a key influence in his development. His parents and brother continue to cheer him on even now, and their support was vital in getting to where he is today.

In 2022, Ferrández said he learned to continue working and not to get frustrated when something does not go as expected, because sometimes there are many factors that influence things. It was a valuable lesson, and his diligent work paid off.

Ferrández's career is packed with achievements. In 2022, he secured his first podium in the FIM JuniorGP Moto3 championship at Cheste, just weeks after debuting in the category. He also impressed in the European Talent Cup and Italian CIV championship with multiple wins and podium finishes. His adaptability and skill have been evident since his early days, from dominating the MiniGP and Moto5 championships to competing at the highest CIV and CEV junior levels.

In 2024, Ferrández had a breakthrough, securing two FIM JuniorGP Moto2 poles, five podiums, including two wins. In 2025, he took five more podiums, including three wins and was a contender for the title down to the wire – the final round in Valencia – before ultimately finishing the season in 3rd overall. Ferrández also made his Moto2 debut as a wildcard at the San Marino GP, finishing 22nd – a glimpse of things to come as he prepares for a full-time move to the FIM Moto2 World Championship in 2026 when he will join the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team.
