MOTOROiD:Λ Wins Red Dot Award - Yamaha Motor's sixth award in the Design Concept category -

June 24, 2026

IWATA, June 24, 2026 - Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announced that its MOTOROiD: Λ concept model has won the globally prestigious Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2026.

This marks the sixth time Yamaha Motor has received an award in the Design Concept category, following &Y01 (Andy 01) in 2017 (co-created with Yamaha Corporation), the original MOTOROiD in 2018, the YNF-01 in 2019, the e-plegona in 2024 (co-created with Yamaha Corporation), and MOTOROiD2 in 2025.

The award-winning MOTOROiD: Λ was revealed in 2025 and is part of the original MOTOROiD project launched in 2017 to explore new possibilities for human-machine relationships. A proof-of-concept model, MOTOROiD: Λ is designed to learn and evolve autonomously while showing the process of its growth-including its failures. This aims to create a new dynamic in which people and machines share time while learning and growing alongside one another.

This vision is realized through three key elements: AI-based reinforcement learning, a design and colors that embrace even failure as a value, and a chassis engineered to enable movements that go beyond imagination.

Through MOTOROiD: Λ, Yamaha Motor is proposing a new perspective on durable goods in which products gain greater value over time through long-term companionship.

The Red Dot Design Awards, organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, are widely recognized as one of the most prestigious design awards in the world.
