New Organizational Reforms and Personnel Changes at Yamaha Motor

IWATA, December 23, 2021—At today's Board of Directors Meeting, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) resolved to implement the following organizational reforms and personnel changes, effective, January 1, 2022.
Organizational Reforms (effective January 1, 2022)
1.Creative Center
The Creative Center will be reorganized with the aim of strengthening value creation functions and organizational control in areas of new business.

- In terms of strengthening value creation function in new areas of business, the new Frontier Design Division will be established.

- In order to strengthen organizational control, the Corporate Design Division will be integrated into the Planning Design Division.
2.Technical Research & Development Center
The Technical Research & Development Center will be reorganized for the purpose of creating, expanding, and accelerating new technologies and businesses.

- The new technology development functions of the Research & Development Section, the NPM Section and the EM Technology Section will be integrated to establish the new Technical Development Section. Under this section, the Project Development Division, the Advanced Product Development Division, and the Control System Development Division will be newly established.

- The mass production development functions (motor, battery design / experimental functions) of the EM Technology Section will be transferred to the Powertrain Unit and the PF Model Unit.

- The new Business Development Division will be established in the New Venture Business Development & R&D Strategy Section in order to strengthen explore, study, and promotion functions for new businesses.

- The name of the Manufacturing Technology Planning Division will be changed to the Technology Strategy Division in order to strengthen the planning and promotion systems of company-wide technology strategies.
3.Manufacturing Center
The Manufacturing Center will be reorganized for the purpose of strengthening global manufacturing competitiveness, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening the promotion of carbon neutral initiatives.

- In order to further develop the company’s global human resources and strengthen our MONOZUKURI manufacturing competitiveness, some functions of the Production Control Division of the Manufacturing Strategy Section, and the Manufacturing Innovation Engineering Division of the Manufacturing Engineering Section have been consolidated, and a Manufacturing Human Resources Strategy Division will be newly established in the Manufacturing Strategy Section.

- In order to improve operational efficiency and strengthen carbon neutral initiatives through consolidating equipment management operations, the Environment, Facilities & Utility Division of the Manufacturing Strategy Section, and the Maintenance Engineering Division of the Manufacturing Section will be integrated, and the Plant Engineering Division will be newly established in the Manufacturing Engineering Section.
4.Procurement Center
The Strategy Planning Section will be reorganized for the purpose of improving operational efficiency and speed.

- The Procurement Control Division and the Production & Procurement Strategy Division will be integrated into the new Procurement Planning Division in order to unify overlapping operations and improve the speed of operations.

- In order to unify the parts procurement and supplier strategies, some functions of the Procurement Strategy Division will be transferred to the Procurement Promotion Division and the Procurement Engineering Division of the Procurement Section.
5.Powertrain Unit
The Powertrain Unit will be reorganized for the purpose of strengthening product competitiveness and mass production development.

- In order to promote carbon neutrality and further improve the value provided to our customers, the Powertrain Planning Section and the Powertrain Development Section will be reorganized, and the Powertrain Advanced Planning & Development Section will be newly established. Under this umbrella, the Advanced Planning & Development Division for advanced development and resource management, and the PT Leading Development Division for technology strategy formulation, new powertrain platform development, and MBSE/MBD implementation, will be newly established.

- In order to develop technical human resources and improve operational efficiency, the mass production development functions of the Powertrain Planning Section and the Powertrain Development Section will be consolidated, and the Product Development Section will be newly established. Under this umbrella, the 1st PT Design & Development Division and the 1st PT Experiment & Development Division that work with streets, scooters, and electric powertrain applications, and the 2nd PT Design & Development Division and 2nd PT Experiment & Development Division that work with Motorcycle and Recreational Vehicle powertrains, and in technology cross-over of the entire powertrain will be newly established.
In addition, in order to expand the development of company-wide EV products, the mass production development functions (motor, battery design and experimental functions) of the EM Technology Section in the Technical Research & Development Center will be transferred to the 1st PT Design & Development Division and the 1st PT Experimental & Development Division.
6.Land Mobility Business Operations
The Land Mobility Business Operations will be reorganized with the aim of strengthening MC business and expanding SPV business.

- In order to promote the overall strategy and planning of the MC and SPV businesses, the name of the Total Strategy Section of the Motorcycle Business Unit will be changed to the Land Mobility Total Strategy Section, operating directly under the Land Mobility Business Operations headquarters.

- In order to further expand our electrically power assisted bicycles business, the Development Division of the Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit will be divided into the 1st Development Division for component development, and the 2nd Development Division for vehicle development and technical planning.
7.Solution Business Operations
■ The Robotics Business Unit will be reorganized by function with the aim of maximizing the synergistic effects of Surface Mount Technology, Factory Automation, and semiconductor post manufacturing

- The SMT Product Engineering Division, the Development Division of the Factory Automation Section, and the Advanced Engineering Division will be consolidated, and will be newly established as the Engineering Section. Under this, the SMT Product Engineering Division, the FA Product Engineering Division, and the Advanced Engineering Division will be established.

- The Domestic Sales & Marketing Division, the Overseas Sales & Marketing Division of the Surface Mount Technology Section, and the Sales & Marketing Division of the Factory Automation Section will be consolidated and will be newly established as the Sales & Marketing Section. Under this umbrella, the SMT Domestic Sales & Marketing Division, SMT Overseas Sales & Marketing Division, and FA Sales & Marketing Division will be established.

- In order to optimize production activities by agile production and procurement planning, some functions of the Product Division of the Manufacturing Section will be transferred to the Procurement Division and will be renamed as the Production & Procurement Strategy Division.
■ The Unmanned System Business Development Section will be reorganized with the aim of promoting business growth through functional integration and independence

- In order to consolidate new business development functions, the aviation business of the Business Development Division, some functions of the Marketing Division, and the Business Promotion Division will be integrated and renamed inclusively as the Planning Division.

- In order to continue activities based on growth strategies, the forest surveying business of the Business Development Division will be transferred and newly established as the Forestry Management Division.

- Along with this, the Business Development Division will be dissolved in a developmental manner.
8.Customer Experience Business Unit
The Customer Experience Business Unit will be reorganized for the purpose of improving loyalty in after-sales areas and for providing further customer value.
