New Organizational Reforms and Personnel Changes at Yamaha Motor

IWATA, December 24, 2020 — At today’s Board of Directors Meeting, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo:7272) resolved to implement the following organizational reforms and personnel changes, effective, January 1, 2021.
Organizational reforms (effective, January 1, 2021)
1.Technical Research & Development Center
The Mobility Technology Center and the Advanced Technology Center will be integrated into the Technical Research & Development Center with the aim of strengthening and accelerating functions that create technologies and businesses required in future growth fields.

- In order to integrate and strengthen the technology strategy function, technology management function, and new business promotion function, the Medical Device Business Division under New Venture Business Development Section, Mobility Service Business Section, and Technology Planning Division of the Advanced Technology Center have been integrated into the New Venture Business Development & R&D Strategy Section. The Technology Planning Division, Medical Device Business Division and Mobility Service Business Division will be established under the same department.

- The NPM Business Section of the Mobility Technology Center is to have a name change to the NPM Section.
- ・
- With the integration of advanced vehicle and electrification development functions such as that used in agriculture and low-speed autonomous driving, the division named as the Low Speed Mobility Division of the Research & Development Section of the Technology Center, of the Advanced Technology Center will be changed to the Advanced System Development Division.
2.Land Mobility Business Operations
For the purpose of strengthening the competitiveness of the Land Mobility Business, Smart Power Vehicle Business Units under the Solution Business Operations will be integrated into the Motorcycle Business Operations, and this will become the Land Mobility Business Operations. The Motorcycle and Smart Power Vehicle Business Units will be established under the same Business Operations.

- The service functions of the electrically power assisted bicycles in the Quality Assurance Division will be moved to the Sales Division of the Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit, and this will become the Sales and Service Division.
3.Quality Assurance Center
For the purpose of strengthening the quality assurance of the Land Mobility Business, the Motorcycle Quality Assurance Section will be reorganized as the Land Mobility Assurance Section.

- The Quality Assurance Division of the Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit under the Solution Business Operations will be transferred to the Land Mobility Assurance Section and be renamed the SPV Quality Assurance Division.
4.Manufacturing and Production Engineering Center
The Manufacturing Section will be reorganized for the purpose of activating functions and improving resource efficiency by integrating assembly functions.

- Integration of the Engine Manufacturing Division into the Assembly Factory.
5.PF Model Unit
The PF Model Development Section will be reorganized with the aim of achieving both global strengthening of new value creation capabilities and improvement of development productivity.

- The PF Planning Division of the Engineering Promotion Section will be re-established as the PF Planning Division in PF Model Development Section. Along with this, the Engineering Promotion Section will be dissolved in a developmental manner.
6.Marine Business Operations
With the aim of further strengthening the overall marine business strategy and expanding the value provided, the current Marine Engine Section and Boat Section will be progressively dissolved, and the Marine Business Operations will be reorganized by function.

- In order to further speed up marine product development and maximize its synergistic effects, a new Development Section will be established. Under this, the 1st Development Division and 2nd Development Division of the Marine Engine Section will be integrated as the Marine Engine Development Division, and placed here along with the BPS Development, Function Development, WV Development, and the Boat Development Divisions.

- In order to strengthen monozukuri-manufacturing competitiveness, a new Manufacturing Section will be established. The marine engine and boat manufacturing departments will be consolidated, and the Marine Engine Manufacturing Division, Boat Manufacturing Division and Production Promotion Division will be established under this.
7.Solution Business Operations
The Unmanned System Business Development Section will be established directly under this with the aim of further promoting the growth strategy of our unmanned vehicle system business.

- The Unmanned System Section of the Robotics Business Unit will be renamed the Unmanned System Business Development Section.

- The Business Development Division of New Venture Business Development Section under the Advanced Technology Center will be transferred as the Business Development Division of the Unmanned System Business Development Section.
8.Overseas Market Development Operation Business Unit
The Africa Development and Area Development Divisions will be reorganized with the
aim of strengthening regional marketing functions.

- In order to accelerate activities on a regional axis level, the service function of the CS Division and the sales management function of the Business Promotion Division will be transferred to the Africa Market Development Division and Area Marketing Division respectively.

- In order to improve the efficiency and sophistication of the company’s planning work, the service planning work and product planning work of the CS Division will be transferred to the Business Promotion Division.

- In accordance with the above, the CS Division will be progressively eliminated.
9.Customer Experience Business Unit
The CS Center will be reorganized into the Customer Experience Business Unit with the aim of further improving the customer experience value through after-sales activities.

- The accessory planning and development operations of the Planning Division, the Overseas Sales and the Domestic Sales Divisions of the After Sales Section, and the Parts & Accessory Engineering Division of the Spare Parts Section are to be integrated into the Planning & Strategy Division

- Transferal of the parts quality control function of the Parts & Accessory Engineering Divisions will be carried out to the SCM Division.
