Yamaha Motor Receives Global "iF Design Award" for Fifth Consecutive Year, Models Awarded: MT-10 SP, TMAX530 DX, XMAX 300
February 14, 2018
IWATA, February 14, 2018—Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announced today that its MT-10 SP motorcycle, TMAX530 DX sports commuter, and XMAX 300 scooter have all received the internationally-prestigious "iF Design Award 2018."* These awards have all been achieved in the product category, with this year marking the fifth year running for Yamaha Motor to receive this honor.
The MT-10 SP represents the pinnacle of the MT series. Designed for global roll out, this series delivers both "powerful, unique engine characteristics and agile performance" along with a "creative style." Fully kitted out as a top-class model, the MT-10 SP features equipment such as ÖHLINS electronically-controlled suspension and full-color TFT liquid crystal instruments. The coloring is exclusively designed for the SP, evoking Yamaha Motor’s super sports flagship model, the YZF-R1M.
The TMAX530 DX brings the ultimate fusion and balance of two sometimes-conflicting styles in one package, with its sports performance enabling "dynamic acceleration, deceleration, and handling as the rider intends" that is equivalent to that found in traditional sports bikes, as well as a comfortable ride - a commuter motorcycle’s key feature - realized through its range of equipment and functions.
This sports commuter with its wide-ranging uses - offering daily commuting and fun riding on weekends - was pioneered by Yamaha Motor when it released the original TMAX in 2001. As a deluxe model, comfort is further bolstered with equipment such as cruise control and an electronically-adjustable screen.
The XMAX 300 is the successor to the XMAX 250 which has enjoyed great reviews and popularity in Europe for many years thanks to its fun ride and sporty styling, along with its combination of comfort and practical functionality for city travel and commuting. The new model offers further improvements in comfort and practical functionality, while delivering high-quality styling and agile - yet comfortable - performance that work to satisfy the pride of ownership demands of today. Positioned in the middle of the sports commuter range, the MAX series models are being rolled out globally.
The iF Design Award is a design award organized by the iF International Forum Design, the world's longest-established independent design organization based in Hannover, Germany. Every year since 1953, superior designs are selected from industrial products etc. from around the world.
