March 20, 2015
IWATA, March 20, 2015 – Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announces the March 27, 2015 global release of the second season of "Master of Torque," an original short anime series for entertainment purposes released online from the spring through to the summer of 2014.
The Master of Torque anime is set in Tokyo in the near future and tells the fictional story of a group of young motorcycle riders. Like the previous installment of the anime, Season 2 will be released on the internet via the anime's special website and the official Yamaha Motor YouTube channel. Its release will also be announced at the Osaka Motorcycle Show 2015 being held today, and on the day of its full release, which coincides with the holding of the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2015.
As with Season 1, which was well-received globally, Season 2 uses Japanese animation to illustrate the unique characteristics of Yamaha's MT Series of motorcycles and the joy that comes from controlling a motorcycle at will. Set in a semi-fictional Tokyo, the globally recognized source of modern Japanese culture, Season 2 will portray the representative districts of the capital that lie on Route 246, like Aoyama, Omote-sando and Shibuya, as the story behind the characters from Season 1 continues to unfold.
The anime's production combines the storytelling and animation techniques of Japanese animation that are popular among young people around the world today and the talent of several accomplished anime voice actors. Younger generations have become less interested in vehicles in general, but they are very familiar with anime, and Yamaha Motor hopes this entertainment series will help communicate the exhilarating fun a motorcycling lifestyle can bring.
