Yamaha Motor Awarded Japan Dark Blue Ribbon Certificate

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (the "Company") has been awarded the Japan Dark Blue Ribbon Certificate for its support in the wake of the Sichuan Earthquake that hit China on May 12, 2008.


The Government of Japan to presents the Dark Blue Ribbon Certificate to honor individuals, companies and groups who have made remarkable contributions to the public welfare or public services using their own funds.


In this case, the Government of Japan recognized the significance of the Company's service to the public welfare with its donation of one million yuan (approx. 15 million yen) in emergency assistance to victims of the Sichuan Earthquake, through the Japanese Red Cross Society.


The presentation ceremony was held at 1:30 pm today at Japanese Red Cross Society national headquarters. Society President Tadateru Konoe presented the Company a Dark Blue Ribbon certificate, together with a letter of gratitude from the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare.


The Company will continue its wide range of social action programs for the global community.
