Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announces the following
organizational reforms -- aimed at strengthening global competitiveness
-- as well as the personnel changes listed below. All are
effective January 1, 2009.

1. Establishment of Global Corporate
Administrative Center
|
|
|
・
|
A Global Corporate Administrative Center
will be established to promote globalization of corporate
(head office administrative) sectors. It will also
coordinate and manage these sectors. Within this Center,
a Group Administration Division will be established,
primarily for financial control and risk management.
The former Brand Management Operations will be renamed
the Brand Management Division, under the Global Corporate
Administrative Center. The move is designed to integrate
the Division's activities with Yamaha Motor Group management
strategies.

2. Establishment of Marine Business
Operations
|
|
|
・
|
A Marine Business Operations will be
established to strengthen the overall competitiveness
of the marine business. Marine Business Operations
includes a Marine Engine Business Unit, a Water Vehicle
Business Unit and a Boat Business Unit.
Organizations within the Marine Engine Business Unit
are a Cost Development Section, a Engineering Section
and a Manufacturing Section.

3. Establishment of Technology Center,
Manufacturing Center and Procurement Center
|
|
|
・
|
A Technology Center will be established
to bolster technology strategy and strengthen manufacturing
technology.
The new Center includes a Research & Development
Section and a Manufacturing Technology Section.
|
|
・
|
Manufacturing functions in Japan will
be integrated under a newly established Manufacturing
Center. The Center will also be given expanded capability
for production strategy. The objective is to increase
the competitiveness of the MC, RV and AM businesses.
The Manufacturing Center includes a Manufacturing Planning
Section, a Body Manufacturing Section and an Engine
Manufacturing Section.

In a move to further enhance the competitiveness
of the MC, RV and AM businesses, a new Procurement
Center will integrate the procurement functions of
these businesses.
|
|
|
4. Establishment of Business Development
Managing Unit
|
|
|
・
|
A Business Development Managing Unit
will be established to control the PAS, pool and aeronautic
businesses and to manage new businesses.
|
|
・
|
The Business Development Managing Unit
consists of a PAS Business Development Section, a Pool
Business Development Section, an Aeronautic Business
Development Section and a New Business Development
Section, which manages a Life Science Division, an
Aqua Environment Division and an Environmental Equipment
Division.
|
|
|
5. Dissolution of the in-house company
system
|
|
|
・
|
The in-house company system formerly
adopted for the RV, ME and IM businesses will be abolished,
resulting in the following changes.
|
|
|
(1)
|
The RV Company will be renamed the Recreational Vehicle
Section and organized within Motorcycle Business Operations. |
|
|
(2)
|
The ME Company will be merged with Yamaha Marine Co.,
Ltd. as the Marine Engine Business Unit. The new unit
functions within Marine Business Operations. |
|
|
(3)
|
The former IM Company will be renamed the IM Business
Unit. |
|
|
6. Controlling overseas group companies
|
|
|
・
|
In order to strengthen governance for
overseas group companies, the current regional headquarters
(American Headquarters, Europe Headquarters, Asian
Headquarters and Japan Headquarters) will be phased
out. In their place, two new organizations will be
established: Regional Control Companies will coordinate
and manage multiple businesses in the respective regions,
while MC Regional Control Companies will oversee the
motorcycle business in Indonesia and Thailand. The
Global Corporate Administrative Center will supervise
all these regional control functions.
