Construction of new office building for Yamaha Motor Asian Center in Thailand -Strengthening business competitiveness in the ASEAN region-

May 14, 2008

Construction began today on the new corporate office building for Yamaha Motor Asian Center Co., Ltd. (YMAC), a consolidated subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. in Thailand focused on the development of motorcycles for ASEAN markets and parts and raw material procurement for the region's Yamaha Motor manufacturing bases. The facility will streamline YMAC's operations and further strengthen the competitiveness of motorcycle operations in the ASEAN region.

The facility will be built on the grounds of Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (TYM), Yamaha Motor group's motorcycle manufacturing company, in Samut Prakan district in the suburbs of Bangkok to help strengthen YMAC's procurement and development functions in the region. The planned investment for construction is approximately 500 million yen.

Currently, YMAC operates from two separate locations: offices in central Bangkok (production planning and management, procurement, quality control) and offices in an existing facility in the TYM complex (development).

The construction of the new facility and the relocation of the Bangkok office will integrate the company's functions in one location. Also, locating the offices within TYM's manufacturing base will boost efficiency and speed to further strengthen the competitiveness of motorcycle operations in the ASEAN region, which is expected to further grow in the future.

YMAC has contributed to strengthening the competitiveness of Yamaha Motor's motorcycle operations in the ASEAN region by working on the development of models like the VEGA-R (110cc) and the X1R (135cc).

The new YMAC office building will be a 3-story ferroconcrete building with a total floor space of 4,000 m2. Construction is scheduled to be completed by December 2008, with the relocation completed and operations beginning in January 2009.
