Yamaha Motor Establishes Sports Foundation

December 7, 2006

The Yamaha Motor Foundation for Sports commemorates the Company's 50th anniversary, promotes sports, and helps build a society where young people can follow their dreams

On November 20, 2006, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (the “Company”) established the Yamaha Motor Foundation for Sports with the objective of furthering sports and enhancing sports culture.

The Company has long been active in promoting and improving sports, including soccer, rugby, motor sports and marine sports. Last month, the Company established the Yamaha Motor Foundation for Sports to continue the tradition of contributing to society through sports.

The new foundation was planned in commemoration of the Company's 50th anniversary in 2005. It was formed with the assistance of various sports organizations and experts, as well as other individuals in the sports world, from inside and outside the Company. Leveraging tangible and intangible assets gained over the course of its involvement with sports, as well as knowledge derived from its communication with the greater community, the Company aims to promote the sports experience, including sports science as well as athletic activity.
