Main Feature |
A 143 horsepower engine with entirely new character |
A high-performance engine based on the YZF-R1 has been adopted on this model. Compared to the base engine, the inertial mass of the crank has been boosted 10% along with the adoption of a BSR37mm carburetor and a new-design cylinder head, all of which combine to produce an engine with a completely new character. With a 74 x 58mm bore x stroke and a 11.4 : 1 compression ratio, this power unit puts out a brawny 143PS and 10.8 kgf-m of torque.
What's more, a new lightweight small diameter clutch and a new secondary reduction ratio (from "16 x 43" to "16 x 44") have been adopted along with exhaust system changes like a buff-baking type exhaust pipe (35mm diameter single pipe) with an impressive material presence, "EXUP" system for flatter torque development and a lightweight 4-1 muffler. These elements combine to produce 1) the enjoyment of full use of the engine's power, 2) ease of use in the mid-speed range, 3) a strong sense of character and 4) acceleration performance with a feeling of outstanding response. |
High-rigidity double cradle frame |
A wide type high-rigidity double cradle frame that uses 48mm diameter pipe for the tank rail has been adopted. An engine center of gravity that is 14mm lower than on the YZF-R1 and the benefits of lightweight design throughout that make this engine the lightest in class, combine to achieve an exceptionally nimble handling feeling within a stable base. Also, the engine mounting is a linked type that serves to reduce vibration. |
Fully adjustable suspensions front and rear |
A large 43mm diameter front suspension is adopted. Both the front and rear suspensions are fully adjustable to fit a wide range of riding conditions and rider preferences. The rear arm is an aluminum type with twin-sectioned cross-section known for its excellent balance that serves to achieve outstanding handling.
What's more, to help ensure excellent braking performance a compact, one-piece brake caliper has been adopted. |
Other Features |
The half cowl that offers good protection even in cornering at high speeds combines with the sharp lines of the somewhat horizontally flared fuel tank and the sharp lines of the tail section to define the sporty styling of the new FZS1000. Also, the riding position has been set as a rather upright one that is well suited for a wide range of riding environments from winding roads to long-distance and tandem riding. What's, a fuller array of practical functions, like a main stand and hazard lamp have been added. |
