On the occasion of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.'s 40th anniversary in July 1995, consideration began on the idea of building a "Communication Plaza" (tentative name) on the grounds of our home office in Iwata as a hospitality facility for visiting customers and a place to exhibit Yamaha products. With plans now finalized, construction of the new facility begins in May of this year to be completed by July of 1998.
The building, to be built on the grounds of the Iwata home office (on the west side of the new headquarters building) will have three above- ground floors and a floor space of approximately 6,000 sq. meters. The exterior will be based on a symbolic cylinder shape with the image of "a place where people can meet and talk about Yamaha's past, present and future."
In specific terms;
The first floor will have an atrium space where large products like boats can be displayed, while all the floors will feature spaces where Yamaha's past, present and future can be introduced in the form of products and visuals.
The second floor will feature a "Experience Corner" with simulators and a "Information Access Corner" where visitors can experience Yamaha products and technology or seek out information about Yamaha's wide-ranging corporate activities.
The third floor will include a cafeteria and lounge and large, middle and small sized halls.
About 150 to 200 examples of Yamaha products will be displayed three-dimensionally on the 1st and 2nd floor exhibition spaces, including motorcycles ranging from present models back to the vintage YA-1, marine products like outboard motors, boats and Water Vehicles, snowmobiles and golf cars, automotive engines, electro-hybrid bicycles and more.
Specific information about the opening date and operating hours, etc., will be announced later as they are decided. |
