This machine was modified for the AMA Championship based on the 2000 production YZ250 motocrosser with a 2-stroke engine. The technology and expertise acquired during the ’99 AMA Championships, World Championships and All Japan Motocross Championships were utilized to boost engine performance and overall potential. Jeremy McGrath won 10 out of 16 races in the AMA Supercross on it, becoming the champion for the third year in a row. David Vuillemin won second place with four wins.
