(1990 / Production Model)

VMAX

In an era when the popularity of full-cowl supersport models packed with technology fed back from the racetrack was at its zenith, the R1-Z was a “naked” model that went against the grain. Its features included an engine based on the TZR250 tuned for ease of use on city streets but also with a 2-stroke’s signature acceleration, a trellis frame, and a distinctive look and styling with its twin muffler pipes on the right-hand side. As 2-stroke models were disappearing one after another, the R1-Z was a long-seller and was available for over 10 years.
