TOYOTA 3T-GTEU

Developed by Yamaha Motor based on the Toyota 3T power unit, this was Japan’s first turbocharged DOHC engine. It had a displacement of 1,770cc and an in-line 4-cylinder layout with two spark plugs per cylinder. This engine was mounted in the Toyota Celica, Carina and Corona. Also, 200 units of the 4T-GTEU engine that had an increased displacement of 1,791cc displacement were manufactured for homologation purposes to race in Group B of the World Rally Championship (WRC).
