This was Yamaha Motor’s first automobile engine supplied to Ford. Yamaha Motor was in charge of the planning, development and manufacture of this high-performance aluminum engine for Ford's mainstay model at the time, the Taurus. The “SHO” inscribed on the top of the engine stood for “Super High Output.”
