Scheduled for release in April this year, the "F225A" is a lightweight, compact 4-stroke outboard motor that adopts for the first time in the world a revolutionary Yamaha-exclusive "In-Bank Exhaust" design that reverses the positioning of the intake and exhaust system components to achieve a more compact design. Its 225 horsepower is also the world's biggest for an outboard motor.
The adoption of Yamaha's own unique electronic fuel injection system on this model further strengthens the inherent 4-stroke advantages of good fuel economy cleaner emissions and lower noise to the point that this model clears the emissions standards for the year 2006 set by the US's EPA and the Japan Boating Industry Association by large margins.
In September 2000, the F225A won the coveted Innovation Award of the USA's marine trade show "Boating Week 2000" held in Orlando, Florida. |
