Yamaha Motor Exhibits New Unmanned Boat, 2018 WATER STRIDER, Improved Ease-of-use and Base Functionality

IWATA, October 10, 2017 - Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) today unveiled the new WATER STRIDER unmanned boat for remotely controlled herbicide spraying work in rice paddies. Featuring improved base functionality and ease-of-use , the 2018 model will be exhibited at the 4th Next Generation Agriculture Expo Tokyo to be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba from October 11 to 13.
The 2018 model features improvements such as 1) the addition of a gyroscope, 2) a revised chemical discharge volume valve (2-stage to 3-stage), and 3) the change to new boat graphics. The WATER STRIDER is an unmanned boat approx. 1.6 m in length, which is capable of spraying herbicide from its hull while traversing rice paddies via the wind power generated from its 34 cc engine-driven propeller. Operation is carried out from a dedicated transmitter. (No license required)
