The ASSUMPTION THONBURI FC team prevailed in extra time to win Thailand its third consecutive title

Comment by Masaru Ono, President of Yamaha Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd.
“It is such a joy for me to have seen the great motivation the players and their coaches brought to this competition, as revealed in the scenes we saw of the winners jumping for joy and the defeated sinking to the turf in tears. At the same time, I clearly felt how this tournament has steadily grown to become one of importance in the ASEAN region. On the other hand, while it is important to further a tournament like this, I feel that from a standpoint of promoting sports it is also important to create the opportunities and environment that enable as many young people as possible to get involved and participate in sports on a continuing basis. I’m deeply grateful to all of the players and team staff and the Vietnam Football Federation for their roles in bringing this tournament to a successful conclusion, and I hope that all of the players will long remember this experience and continue to grow and progress in the sport of football, so that someday they may compete on the world stage.”

Comment by Yukihiro Ozaki, General Manager of Marketing & Sales Division, 1st Business Unit, Motorcycle Business Operations, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.
“Not only the winning team from Thailand, but all of the players in this tournament showed us through your play how serious you were about going for the title. I hope that each and every one of you will see this tournament as a step forward along the way, and that you will apply the experiences you’ve had in it toward your next goals. The same is true for us at Yamaha Motor. As a ‘Kando* Creating Company,’ we will continue to work with our group companies in the ASEAN region to become a presence that brings Kando to people of all ages and demonstrates our corporate value. We will do this by not only continuing to hold this tournament, but also through the YAMAHA ASEAN CUP RACE set for this December in Indonesia, the many activities run by the Yamaha Motor group companies in the region and our main business of Monozukuri (engineering, manufacturing and marketing).”

*Kando is a Japanese word for the simultaneous feelings of deep satisfaction and intense excitement that we experience when we encounter something of exceptional value.
