Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Yamaha Motor”) and Assembleon Netherlands B.V. (hereinafter "Assembleon"), the 100% owned subsidiary of Royal Philips Electronics, reached a new OEM agreement with a term of three years for the purpose of further business development and expansion in the surface mounter field through mutual supplement and business synergy effect following the Mar. 31, 2009, termination of the current OEM* agreement and sales alliance.
Yamaha Motor started OEM surface mounter supply to Assembleon in 1988 and the two companies' cooperative relationship has continued for 20 years.
During this period, Yamaha Motor and Assembleon achieved cumulative production, sales and installation of 5,000 units of surface mounters by Dec. 2008.
As a new measure to strengthen general competitiveness, solder paste printers and dispensers were added to the OEM product portfolio to enable Assembleon to make further progress in sales in the Asian region, as well Europe and North America.
At the same time, Yamaha Motor will strengthen sales efforts for Yamaha brand surface mounters and peripheral machines on the world market, including Europe and North America, and intends to increase business competitiveness of both companies.
In addition, a distribution agreement for products other than surface mounters, including Yamaha brand hybrid placers and AOI* was also agreed upon.
Based on the new agreement, Yamaha Motor will reinforce cooperation with Assembleon in marketing and development with the aim of achieving a tangible increase in total sales volume of surface mounters and peripherals all over the world.
The signing ceremony for the new agreement was performed on Jan 30, 2009 with presence of Mr. Andre Papoular, Chief Executive Officer of Assembleon and Mr. Toshizumi Kato, Executive Officer and Executive General Manager of IM* Business Unit, Yamaha Motor.
