Speaker Design Concept

Harmony and unity
with the WaveRunner

The character lines on the sides, which give the impression of the WaveRunner accelerating forward, and the flare shape that resembles cutting through waves match the dynamic shape of the craft body, suppressing the sense of size while asserting the presence of the speaker itself.

Expresses a robust
and rich sound

The large continuous surface that goes around the speaker, and looks like a drum shell - the exterior - is contrasted with the speaker grill surface - the interior - that gives the rider a decent cockpit feeling and a sense of security, expressing the harmony of "hardness and softness" that is essential for a robust and rich sound.

The design technique of effectively utilizing the opposing elements mentioned above is common to musical instrument design. When combined with the sense of unity with the WaveRunner, it results in a fitting concept for the product that symbolizes two Yamahas.

Grill Design Concept

Expressing a "new face"
suitable for the
two Yamaha collaborations

five spokes Image

We aimed to create a surprising design that has never been seen before, both as a new Yamaha product and as a product for motorsports. As a design expression of the "sound outlet," we made the sub-spokes that intersect with the five main directional spokes while fusing and intermingling polar lines linear, but they mathematically express the gap between organic and inorganic.

Functional beauty that aims
for the fine line between
"simple" and "complex"

We took the grill design from Yamaha's guitar amplifier, the THR-II.Simplifying the design would make it flat and diminish its sense of luxury, but making it three-dimensional and complex would make it seem old-fashioned. Therefore, we wanted to create a design that combines both elements in an optical illusion with a subtle degree of design value while also expressing Japanese aesthetics. This concept reflects our intention.
